A reminder to advise Mel or Pat (see below) of your intentions to attend so we can organise and confirm numbers for Saturday night. At this time Nelson still outnumber Christchurch!
Friday, 18th Feb
For those travelling up to Kaikoura from Christchurch during the day, Mel and Gill have invited you to join them for lunch at Pukeko Junction at 1pm.
Friday night in Kaikoura has no organised activity but those travelling up can catch up with others from Nelson and Christchurch at their leisure.
Saturday’s Programme, 19th Feb
We have organised a couple of options for you. Meet at the Panorama Motel at 12:30 to get your run sheets.
- For the more adventurous, we plan to explore the Seaward Valley north of Kaikoura before meeting up with our colleagues at Geoff Harmon’s property in Bay Paddock Road at around 3pm.
- The alternative run is to visit South Bay before heading to the road network inland from Kaikoura and ending at Bay Paddock Road to meet with the adventurers. Geoff has an interesting collection for us to view.
- We have gathered together some sightseeing brochures if you just want to explore on your own with gives you a third option for Saturday. We will have them at the Panorama Motel for you if you want them.
Dinner will be at 6:30pm at the Green Dolphin Restaurant opposite the Pier Hotel.
Programme for Sunday, 20th Feb
Assembly point is Panorama Motel between 10.00 - 10.30am. Our destination is Homewood Hills Art Gallery where artist Karen James has a number of paintings for you to admire. Husband, Bob Bell, has a collection of cars and memorabilia. Bob has a charities donation box for a gold coin or two please.
Across the road is our lunch venue. We are being hosted by the Hapuku Primary School for a BBQ lunch – the usual salads and meats and, if available, there may be some sea food! The cost is $5.00 per person which goes towards the pupils’ educational trips. Take your car and park in the school grounds about 12.15ish!
After lunch we will farewell our Northern friends and head back toward Christchurch, stopping at the Tipapa Woolshed in Greta Valley for afternoon tea. Well worth a look.
