Peninsula Cruise - 10am start

Fundraising event and an excuse to show off your classic car, motorbike, bus, fire engine, truck, hot rod, race car, one-off special and whatever else you may have stashed in your garage. If its got wheels, we would love to see it on display in Akaroa.

This is the inaugural, of what we hope will be an annual, fundraising cruise for the Child Cancer Foundation (Canterbury/West Coast region).  The plan for the day is as follows (this has changed from what we had suggested previously):

  1. Check in 10.00am at Princess Margaret Hospital
  2. Donation of $20.00 per car, all funds raised will be donated to the Child Cancer Foundation.
  3. Make your own way to Akaroa, parking provided with donation.
  4. Any one able to take a child and caregiver for the day (Kids in Cars - see below) please contact John or Jo 03 307 6695 or Brian 021 421 829. To date we have approximately 30 children plus care givers requiring transport.
  5. Any CMS members wishing to assist on the day please contact Brian 021 421 829.
  6. The event will be run wet or fine.
  7. Bring your favourite car and help us to put smiles on faces.

As part of this, we wish to offer Kids in Cars again - this is where teenagers and children with cancer are transported in classic cars (or other vehicles) to Akaroa for the day so they can partake in the fun.  We have offered this as part of the Twin Rivers Parade in previous years and participants (both car owners and the Kids in Cars people) have really enjoyed it.

We wish to invite all types, makes and marques of vehicles.  The more the merrier.

So plan your picnic lunch, although there will be food available on site as part of the fundraising activities, and invite as many other people as you can.  We really want to swamp Akaroa with classic vehicles and have an excellent display.
